PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT

From the early days of flat, glued-on foams and rubber sheets,
NVH parts have become highly developed to meet increasingly higher
noise reduction and weight specifications and must be precisely
moulded to meet these requirements. Car manufacturers at the same
time demand greater input by their suppliers to add value to the
overall car development process. This means that suppliers will
have to undertake greater responsibility in design and development
of parts that need to be only the responsibility of the car manufacturers
themselves.
As a result, HASB has been increasingly involved in the design and
innovation of the parts, manufacturing process and selection of
materials. To meet these challenges, HASB has increased design and
product engineering capabilities by investing both in people and
equipment. From simple die-cut parts, HASB is now making multi-layered,
3-dimensional parts from sophisticated moulds. It has facilities
for hot compression moulding and reaction injection moulding (RIM)
that is capable of moulding parts from organic fibre composites
and polyurethane foams, laminated with non-woven fabrics and heavy
insulating sheets.
To further meet customers' requirements for quality, cost and performance,
HASB enlisted assistance from their technical collaborator Rieter
Automotive International AG (www.rieter.com),
of Switzerland. Rieter provides technical know-how for the manufacturing
process and selection of materials related to dampers and parts
moulded in felt- and fibre-related materials.
In addition, the company is aware of the need for its quality to
be recognised and intends to be certified under the ISO/TS 16949
Quality System. This quality system is a fusion of worldwide standards
of ISO 9001:2000 and automotive industry's QS 9000 and has been
devised specially for needs of the automotive industry. In this
respect, the company will be ready to continuously maintain its
competitive and technological edge in the industry.
