CUSTOMIZED DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT OF NEW
STEERING WHEELS
With the support of Autoliv technical centers in various parts
of the world, we offer an integrated approach to our customers to
design steering wheels with driver airbags as well as non-airbag
variants meeting international regulations. Our facilities and resources,
both in-house and within the Autoliv group is able to undertake
projects starting from conceptual design where we work together
with our customers to establish the most cost effective design to
meet the design intends of the product. Sharing of components among
variants is optimized to give higher economic advantage.
PRODUCT ENHANCEMENT
Our set-up is flexible to cater for product enhancement activities.
Our customers will deliver their existing product to us for us to
create and add on enhancements to increase the value of the product
aesthetically and economically. Enhancements include the following:
· Conversion
of full PUR rim to high quality leather wrapped rim.
· Add on of sections of simulated wood finish using epoxy
and CUBIC printing technology.
· Add on of sections of painted finish using epoxy and paint
finish.
· Color coordination of leather and other finishes matching
latest interior design trends.
In all these, the horn pad or the OE airbag module and system remains
unchanged.
HIGH QUALITY, LOW COST, ENVIRONMENT FRIENDLY
MANUFACTURING
Autoliv Hirotako has been involved in the manufacture of safety
restraint products for the last 18 years and has been recognized
by its customers for the consistent and high quality of their products
and steering wheels is not an exception. We are QS9000 certified
and we have plans to be TS16949 certified by July 2004.
We also offer environmentally friendly water based polyurethane
system that is CFC free.
Apart from manufacturing for products that we design together with
the customer, we also offer to our customers to manufacture products
that has already been designed by them or products that have been
manufactured elsewhere. Apart from cost advantage, depending on
the location of our customer, optimized logistics compared to the
original source are also available. Our central location within
the ASEAN region gives us access to many countries easily.

This is a common specification for passenger
cars. It uses high quality, imported raw materials to produce
a UV resistance and soft feeling on the wheel. More importantly,
it is environmentally friendly because we employ a water-based
production system, which is vey important for the European markets. |
WOODEN EPOXY WITH LEATHER
| This particular steering wheel wrapped in genuine
leather and cubic printed epoxy with a wooden pattern provides
an image of luxury feel available in many high end cars. It
can be used to enhance the interior to help with building the
brand image of the car. The leather used is of imported high
grade quality sewn by highly skilled craftsman to achieve that
luxurious feel. |

TITANIUM EPOXY WITH LEATHER

The customer can also opt for a titanium image,
which is appropriate for a sporty image. It can be designed
to match other interior parts such as gear knob, parking brake
lever and trims. |
FULL LEATHER
| Only the highest quality imported leather are
used by our well trained craftsman to ensure a final product
that is durable for daily use. It also improves the grab on
the steering wheel in high speed driving. |
